PHARMACOLOGICAL PROPERTIES

Pharmacodynamics

Consistent evidences have shown the potential effect of some specific probiotic strain, such as Saccharomyces cerevisiae var. Boulardii (S.boulardii), in promoting recovery from acute diarrhoea. S.boulardii is today one of the most documented nutritional interventions in reducing diarrhoea duration in adults and children.

We are using Lynside® Pro SCB Saccharomyces boulardii CNCM I-3799 from Gnosis by Lesaffre in Glo SB. Lynside® Pro SCB Saccharomyces boulardii CNCM I-3799 has more than 75 clinical studies conducted in over 100 countries.
Lynside Pro SCB is more resistant to gastric acid and bile salts, making it more effective in the gut. It binds to pathogens and creates gut detoxification by rapid excretion of these pathogens. Advantages:

– Does not inter-act with antibiotic treatment

– No risk of antibiotic resistance gene transfer

– Long shelf life due to a unique drying process

– Very stable at ambient temperatures

– Lactose and Gluten free, a non-GMO

Lynside® Pro SCB is a probiotic yeast, well documented by scientific papers. The strain used by Lesaffre, Saccharomyces cerevisiae var. boulardii CNCM I-3799, helps intestinal comfort and contributes to maintain the intestinal flora.
Lynside® Pro SCB Saccharomyces boulardii CNCM I-3799 acts by inhibiting the pathogenic effects of certain micro-organism and/or their toxins, especially Clostridium difficile, the principle causative organism in antibiotic-associated diarrhoea, and Vibrio cholerae, typical of the toxin-producing bacterium responsible for secretory diarrhoea.

Lynside® Pro SCB Saccharomyces boulardii CNCM I-3799 exerts a trophic and immunostimulant effects on the intestinal tract involving notable and significant increase in the total and specific activity of the intestinal disaccharidases (sucrase, maltase and lactase), and marked increase in secretory IgA concentrations in the intestinal fluid.
With its proven antibacterial and antitoxin effects, S. boulardii helps to reduce diarrhoea through multiple mechanisms including the binding of intestinal pathogens and their elimination.

Pharmacokinetics

Lynside® Pro SCB Saccharomyces boulardii CNCM I-3799, after repeated oral doses, transits in the digestive tract without colonizing it, rapidly attaining significant intestinal concentrations, which are maintained at a constant level throughout the administration period. The cells are spread throughout the small and large intestines, creating a barrier in the gut against bad bacteria. Saccharomyces boulardii is not present in the stools 2–5 days after discontinuation of treatment.
